Apatite

Occurring in a kaleidoscope of colors - including an electrifying shade of neon blue that is often confused with Paraiba tourmaline – transparent gem quality apatite is considered a prized possession among gemstone collectors. Sea blues and greens are most widely known, but other colors include purple, violet and yellow. Because of its relative softness (apatite scores a 5 on the MOHS) this extremely rare gemstone is best set into pendants and earrings and jewelry that will receive minimal wear. Apatite is found in Brazil, Madagascar, Myanmar, Africa, Mexico and Russia.
