Rainbow Fluorite

A popular mineral, fluorite occurs naturally in all colors of the spectrum including colorless, blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green, brown and black. When fluorite is multicolored or banded, it is referred to as rainbow fluorite. Exciting and quite unique in appearance, rainbow fluorite is perfect for individualistic styles of adornment and is also commonly used in metaphysical healing. Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride and belongs to the halide mineral class. Many fluorites strongly fluoresce. In fact, the word fluorescent is derived from the name of this colorful mineral. Although low on the MOHS scale, with a hardness of 4, fluorite is fashioned into wearable gems such as beads, cabochons and faceted. Great care must be taken when wearing fluorite. Pendants or earring settings are strongly recommended over rings and bracelets.
