Mint Green Grossularite

Grossularite garnets range in color from lemon yellow to orange to deep green and every hue in between. Rarely, some are an eye-catching and quite distinctive shade of beautiful mint green with remarkable brilliance. Known simply as mint green grossularites, these gems are rare and highly desirable. Deeper yellowish green to green grossularites are called tsavorites and orange gems are known as hessonites. Grossularite is a species within the garnet group. The name grossular is derived from “grossularia”, the botanical name for the gooseberry. Most green grossularites are found in Kenya. Garnets are the birthstone for January and are designated for the 2nd anniversary.
