Rutilated Quartz

Rutilated quartz is transparent, usually colorless, quartz with needle-like inclusions of rutile. Rutile inclusions occur in an infinite variety of patterns: sparse and random, bundled and parallel, dense and criss-crossed or even arranged in a star-like pattern. Usually golden in color, the rutile inclusions can also occur in a coppery color. In the world of gems, inclusions often reduce value and desirability, but rutilated quartz is different, being prized for its inclusions! Available in small to large sizes as faceted shapes or cabochons. Mined mainly in Brazil, rutilated quartz is also found in India.
