Purple Sapphire

Sapphire is the most popular member of the gemstone species corundum and is available in a rainbow of exciting “fancy” colors such as purple! Purple sapphires range from soft lavender to pinkish lilac to medium violetish purple to deep plum to dark bluish purple and everything between. These unusual sapphires are available in a variety of shapes but are mostly found in sizes under 4 carats. Sapphires are very durable, making them a perfect alternative to diamonds for engagement rings. Sapphire is the birthstone for those born in September and is designated for the 5th and 45th wedding anniversaries.
