Tourmalinated Quartz
Tourmalinated quartz is transparent, usually colorless, quartz with slender needle-like inclusions of black tourmaline – or schorl. The schorl inclusions can occur as sparse or densely packed crossed needles in a random pattern. In the world of gems, inclusions often reduce value and desirability, but tourmalinated quartz is different, being prized for its distinctive inclusions! Visually striking and quite unique, tourmalinated quartz is available as faceted shapes, cabochons and briolettes. Mined mainly in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
