Kunzite

The lovely lavender/lilac variety of the mineral species spodumeme is known as Kunzite. It was named for George F. Kunz, the legendary American gemologist with Tiffany & Co. who first described gems found in Palo Alto, California in 1903. Kunzite is commonly faceted in larger sizes to enhance its delicate beauty. Its color can fade from prolonged exposure to intense light and heat, therefore care shoud be taken to store kunzites in a closed box or case when not being worn.
