Black onyx with opal inlay was once a trendy and affordable alternative to more expensive straight opal. Thin slices of Australian opal with lighter tone and play-of-color were given a color boost by backing them with a dark background and "frame". Not a traditional doublet or a mosaic but something a little in-between. Need one for a retro repair? JFG to the rescue!! Available in limited sizes of oval, pear and marquise shapes.
