Smoky Quartz

This earthy brown variety of quartz was named for its grayish brown color which has been likened to smoke. With tones as pale as a wisp of smoke to medium shades reminiscent of cognac to a deep velvety brown, smoky quartz has been mined in the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland since the early days of the Celts. Long believed to carry mystical powers, this handsome gem is the national gem of Scotland and can be found in all forms of Highland adornment.
